Since its opening in 2008, New Jersey Motorsports has held major racing events at its signature Thunderbolt Raceway. Series like NASCAR, ARCA, Rolex 24 Series (Now IMSA Series), AMA, Trans-Am Series, F1600 Series, F2000 Series, KSR Motorsports, Atlantic Championship Series, CCS, and SCCA have held races at the Thunderbolt Raceway.
However, did you know that New Jersey Motorsports Park also has another road course track? It’s called Lightning Raceway which is known for having a Go-Kart racetrack inside the Raceway. This is a beautiful racetrack and I don’t understand why New Jersey Motorsports Park won’t have a major sanction race there.
This year marked the first year that New Jersey Motorsports Park didn’t have ARCA Series there because of a schedule conflict. I would like to see NJMP get the ARCA Series back and instead of them racing at Thunderbolt Raceway, have them race at Lightning Raceway.
This is a beautiful track and would do just fine hosting a major racing event. Here is a video by Cameron Das Racing’s youtube channel racing at Lighting Raceway.
How cool was that to see an in-car camera taking you around Lighting Raceway? This track should have a major race here and the ARCA Series would be the perfect fit to host.
It’s time for New Jersey Motorsports Park to change up the schedule and start adding major racing events not just at Thunderbolt Raceway but also at Lightning Raceway.
What major racing events would you like to see at Lighting Raceway? Leave a comment below.
