Atlantic City FC continued their road trip Wednesday night as they headed to Holmdel, NJ to take on New Jersey Copa from St. John Vianney High School. The Aces were looking to get back on track after going 0-2-1 in the last three games.
The Aces didn’t get off to a good start as goalkeeper Charlie Cunliffe committed a foul and received a Yellow card allowing New Jersey Copa to receive a penalty kick that was converted by Forward Rafael Terci in the 8th minute to put New Jersey Copa up 1-0.
New Jersey Copa Mid Fielder Brain Pereira received a Yellow card in the 19th minute, but this didn’t stop Copa from scoring as Forward Gerald Cubero intercepted the ball and rocketed one pass goalkeeper Charlie Cunliffe to extend the Copa lead 2-0.
The Aces finally got on the board in the 26th minute when David Nigro chipshot one over goalkeeper Holman Pinzon to cut the lead to 2-1. The Aces received another yellow card committed by Jacques Francois in the 32nd minute.
The Aces were awarded a free kick in the 37th minute but were unable to convert as the ball went over the crossbar. The Aces received another Yellow card in the 43rd minute this time on Ryan Bailey. New Jersey Copa headed into halftime with a 2-1 lead.
The Aces started to build momentum in the second half as Walter Calderon with the assist from Jacques Francois, shot one passed goalkeeper Holman Pinzon in the 48th minute to tie the game up 2-2.
Two minutes later, Jacques Francois would give the Aces the lead in the 50th minute when he split one Copa defender to kick the ball into the net, and the score was now 3-2. The Aces received their third Yellow card of the night this time on Walter Calderon.
The Aces almost extended the lead but Ryan Bailey hit the upper crossbar. The Aces continued to extend their lead in the 83rd minute when Charlie Livesey got in on the scoring spree with an assist from Jacques Francois and made it a 4-2 game.
The Aces would get one more goal in extra time by Alex Satrustegui who sealed the game for the Aces at 5-2. With this latest goal by Satrustegui, he now has five goals for the season. The final score was Atlantic City FC 5, New Jersey Copa 2. Jacques Francois was named Man of the Match.
Atlantic City FC continues their road trip Saturday night as they head to Scranton, PA to take on Electric City Shock at 6 pm from Scranton University Fitzpatrick Field.
