Lehigh Valley Phantoms send three players to Reading Royals

The Lehigh Valley Phantoms announced today they have sent defensemen James De Haas; forwards, Gerry Fitzgerald and Matthew Strome to the Reading Royals of ECHL. The Royals are affiliated with the Philadelphia Flyers and Lehigh Valley Phantoms.

James De Haas appeared in one game for the Phantoms this year. During the 2018-19 season, De Haas played forty-eight games and had one goal, nine assists, and twenty-two penalty minutes for the Phantoms.

Like De Haas, Gerry Fitzgerald has played one game for the Phantoms. Fitzgerald spent last year with the Iowa Wild, the AHL affiliate of the Minnesota Wild, notching twelve goals and nineteen assists.

Matthew Strome has appeared in two games for the Phantoms this year. Strome made his AHL debut last year, getting an assist against the Hershey Bears on April 9th. Strome was a fourth-round in the 2017 NHL Draft. He has played for the Ontario Hockey League’s Hamilton Bulldogs for four years.

During his four years at Hamilton, Strome had 115 goals and 132 assists, including winning the OHL championship in the 2017-18 season. Last year, he was named captain for the Bulldogs and notched twenty-eight goals and fifty-eight assists.

The Phantoms play the Charlotte Checkers this Friday, October 25th, at 7 pm and Saturday, October 26th at 6 pm.
