In Memoriam: Alliance of American Football

As 2019 comes to a close, we take the time to remember the Alliance of American Football. The short-lived league only lasted eight weeks and folded on April 17, 2019. Because of this league, many players that played there are on NFL roster spots like Greg Ward, Garrett Gilbert, and others. The AAF taught us that people will still watch football after the NFL season concludes.

The AAF had some different rules that I can see happening in the NFL soon like the elimination of the kickoff, the replacement of the on-side kick known as the onside conversion or 4th and 12, and the sky judge that oversaw plays from a different angle.

Despite the bad decisions that led to the AAF’s demise, there is no question that this league was exciting to watch and provided many fans with some great games. Here are the top ten AAF games of 2019.
