On Tuesday, The Spring League ended its 2020 season due to a spike in COVID-19 cases. Last week, the Jousters were forced to forfeit a game to the Alphas due to COVID-19. There were two games scheduled to play that night, but the league announced on Twitter confirming the end of the season.
The Spring League said, “Upon the return of COVID-19 results from yesterday’s testing. The Spring League has concluded that it will not be possible to proceed with either of our scheduled Week 4 games. As the cases of Coronavirus continues to surge nationally. We believe it is in the best interest of the health and safety of our players, coaches, and staff to conclude the regular season.”
The Spring League is now the latest league to end their season prematurity with one week to go in the regular season plus the championship game. This year, The XFL and other major sports leagues were forced to cancel or postpone their seasons. Some of them were able to return to finish their seasons like NASCAR, NHL, etc.
The Spring League provided football fans with more football games to watch Tuesdays and Wednesdays. The league played their games in a bubble at the Alamodome in San Antonio, TX. The league had six teams that featured players from the NFL, CFL, XFL, and indoor leagues.
Before the season ended, the Generals were the only undefeated team in the league with a 3-0 record, followed by the Aviators and Alphas tied with a 2-1 record. The Conquerors and Blues records were 1-2, and the Jousters were 0-3.
