On Saturday, the wrestling world was shocked and saddened by Jon Huber’s passing, known as “The Exalted One” Brodie Lee in AEW. Lee was the leader of the faction The Dark Order and won the AEW TNT championship over Cody Rhodes.
In a short time, Huber was in AEW; he made an impact with matches like Jon Moxley, Christopher Daniels, Matt Cardona, and Dustin Rhodes. With Lee’s passing, many fans are wondering what will happen to The Dark Order. Will AEW break them up, turn them babyfaces, or find someone else to lead the group?
This Wednesday, AEW will dedicate a show in memory of Brodie Lee, featuring members of The Dark Order in several matches. On Monday, the hit YouTube channel BTE (Being the Elite) featured a tribute to Brodie Lee with Matt Jackson, Alex Reynolds, and John Silver.
The show showed not only Lee’s appearances but also bloopers. Huber brought so much charisma and changed The Dark Order for the better. His presence will be missed both in and out of the ring.
As for the future of The Dark Order, there are several moves the company can make. First, they can either tap Evil Uno, John Silver, or “Hangman” Adam Page as the faction’s new leader. If they went with Silver or Page, the group should turn into babyfaces.
Second, they could break the group up by giving them time off to repackage themselves and give them new storylines. Before Huber debuted in AEW, The Dark Order was going nowhere, and the faction almost ended after AEW Revolution. Once Huber arrived, the faction became popular to wrestling fans on Dynamite and Being the Elite.
Third, AEW could bring in Joseph Rudd, formerly known as Erik Rowan in WWE, and Lee’s former partner from the Wyatt Family. Rudd is now known as Erik Redbeard on the Indie circuit.
If AEW signs Rudd, the perfect storyline for this group going forward would be just before Lee’s passing; he appoints Rudd as the new leader of The Dark Order. Whoever takes over as the leader of The Dark Order will have big shoes to fill.
