Just ten days after the Philadelphia Eagles fired head coach Doug Pederson. The Eagles have a new head coach as they have hired Indianapolis Colts offensive coordinator Nick Sirianni.

The 39-year-old from Jamestown, NY, spent three seasons as the Colts’ offensive coordinator. In 2020, the Colts’ offense were ranked tenth in the NFL, ninth in points per game (28.2), eleventh in passing yards (253.3), and fourteenth in rushing yards (124.8). The Colts made the playoffs but were eliminated by the Buffalo Bills in the Wild Card round.

Sirianni started his coaching career as a defensive backs coach for two seasons at Division III Mount Union. He became a wide receivers coach at Indiana University of Pennsylvania Crimson Hawks for three seasons before making the jump to the NFL in 2009 as an offensive quality control coach for the Kansas City Chiefs under Todd Haley.

For the next three seasons, he worked his way up from an assistant quarterbacks coach in 2010 to an offensive quality control coach in 2011 and a wide receivers coach in 2012.

Sirianni would leave Kansas City for San Diego in 2013 as an offensive quality control coach under Mike McCoy with Ken Whisenhunt as the offensive coordinator. He then became the team’s quarterbacks coach for two seasons in 2014 and 2015. He spent his last two seasons as a wide receivers coach as the Chargers moved to Los Angeles before departing for Indianapolis.

With the Eagles now finding their head coach, Sirianni’s main job is to fix Carson Wentz. After spending time with the Colts under former Eagles offensive coordinator Frank Reich, could he be the answer to fixing Carson Wentz and getting the Eagles back on track?

The Eagles will have the sixth overall pick in the 2021 NFL Draft. The Eagles will play the NFC East, NFC South, AFC West, and Detroit Lions next season.
