On Wednesday, the Superstar Racing Experience announced that Marco Andretti has joined the new racing league for their inaugural season later this year. Andretti will compete in his lone IndyCar race at the Indy 500 this year.
Marco took to his Instagram shortly after the announcement and said, “I am extremely excited to join the SRX series. I look forward to racing against the legends of auto racing across multiple different series. I am especially excited to go head-to-head with my friend Tony Stewart and learning from him on the dirt, as well as a bunch of my other friends in Motorsport.”
The 33-year-old third-generation talent from Nazareth, PA, has spent 15 seasons in the IndyCar Series racing for the family business Andretti Autosport. He has made 248 career starts with six poles, two wins, and twenty podium finishes.
Andretti is now the tenth driver who will compete in the six-race schedule that starts June 12th at Stafford Motor Speedway. All of the races will air on CBS and CBS Sports Network. The other drivers that will compete this year are Tony Stewart, Willy T. Ribbs, Tony Kannan, Mark Webber, Helio Castroneves, Paul Tracy, Ernie Francis Jr., Bill Elliott, and Bobby Labonte.
The series was founded by two-time NASCAR champion Tony Stewart, former NASCAR crew chief Ray Evernham, George Pyne, and Sandy Montag.
