IronPigs win another late rally game 5-4 over Red Wings

The Lehigh Valley IronPigs returned to Coca-Cola Park for game three against the Rochester Red Wings in front of 2,762 fans. Bailey Falter got the start for the IronPigs against Ben Braymer of the Red Wings.

Falter got off to a rocky start in the first inning, allowing a walk to Gerardo Parra, a single from Raudy Read before Brandon Snyder homered to left field to put the Red Wings up 3-0.

The IronPigs offense did not get going until the bottom of the second inning with a home run by Darick Hall to cut Rochester’s lead to 3-1. Lehigh Valley was able to get two walks and a single from Cornelius Randolph to load the bases. The IronPigs were able to tie it up at three apiece after Rafael Marchan scored on a fielder’s choice and Randolph scored on an error.

In the fourth inning, Bailey Falter gave up a walk, single, and then a double by Raudy Read, which put the Red Wings back up 4-3. Falter would go 4.0 innings, allowing four hits, four earned runs, two walks, and five strikeouts.

Rochester remained in the lead until the bottom of the ninth inning when Luke Williams hit a single to bring home Travis Jankowski to tie the game at four apiece.

The game then headed to extra innings. In the bottom of the tenth inning, the Iron Pigs, Darick Hall grounded out to move Adrian Sanchez to third before C.J. Chatham ended the game with a single to win the game 5-4. It is the first three-game winning streak to start the season in franchise history.

IronPigs pitchers Damon Jones, Mauricio Llovera, and JD Hammer combined for 6.0 innings, no hits, one walk, and nine strikeouts. JD Hammer got the win while the loss went to Ryne Harper.

The IronPigs continue their series with the Rochester Red Wings Friday at 7:05 pm, with Ranger Suarez going for the IronPigs against Jefry Rodriguez of the Red Wings.
