IronPigs drop one to the Red Wings 10-3

Lehigh Valley IronPigs

The Lehigh Valley IronPigs (3-0) returned to Coca-Cola Park Friday night against the Rochester Red Wings (0-3), looking to win four in a row. The starting pitcher for the IronPigs was supposed to be Ranger Suarez. However, Suarez was called up to the Phillies roster, and Kyle Glogoski got the start. Starting for the Red Wings was Jefry Rodriguez.

The first batter for the Red Wings was Luis Garcia. On a 1-0 count, Garcia homered to right field to put the Red Wings up 1-0. Glogoski then struck out the next three batters to end the top of the first inning.

The IronPigs scored three runs in the bottom of the first inning without a hit as Jefry Rodriguez walked six batters with two outs. The Red Wings substituted Joan Baez for Rodriguez, who got Glogoski to strikeout to end the first inning.

The top of the second inning got worse for Glogoski. He walked the first three batters before Alec Keller singled to center field to tie the game at three apiece. After hitting Joan Baez, Glogoski was gone, and Jeff Singer was the new pitcher for the IronPigs. Glogoski finished the night going 1.0 inning, allowing two hits, six earned runs, three walks, and three strikeouts.

Singer threw a wild pitch followed by a walk to Gerardo Parra to load the bases. The next batter for the Red Wings was Carter Kieboom, who singled to right field to bring home two more runners as the Red Wings were up 6-3. A sacrifice fly by Yasmany Tomas made it a 7-3 lead for Rochester.

The IronPigs were unable to get anything going for the rest of the game. Ramon Rosso replaced Jeff Singer in the fourth inning. He gave up a walk to Ali Castillo and threw a wild pitch before Luis Garcia doubled to left field to score Castillo and make it an 8-3 Red Wings lead. David Paulino replaced Ramon Rosso in the seventh inning.

The game remained 8-3, heading to the top of the ninth inning when Paulino gave up a single to Ramon Flores, striking out Luis Garcia and another single to Gerardo Parra. Carter Kieboom was the next batter up for the Red Wings and singled to left field that brought home Flores for a 9-3 Red Wings lead. Yasmany Tomas was the next batter up and doubled to left field and scored Parra for a 10-3 lead.

Red Wings pitcher Kyle McGowin came in for the bottom of the ninth to close out the game as the Red Wings defeated the Iron Pigs 10-3. The winning pitcher went to Joan Baez, while IronPigs pitcher Kyle Glogoski got the loss.

The rest of the IronPigs pitchers combined for 7.3 innings, allowing eight hits, four runs, three walks, and six strikeouts. The IronPigs continue their series with the Red Wings on Saturday, May 8th, at 6:35 pm.
