The IMSA Michelin Pilot Challenge was at Mid-Ohio Saturday afternoon for the Mid-Ohio 120. On the pole for this race was Wright Motorsports Porsche (GS) and Atlanta Speedwerks (TCR).

In the GS race, Wright Motorsports Porsche and AWA McLaren were neck and neck for the lead. Atlanta Speedwerks led the opening two laps before McLaren took over the lead on the third lap.

There were a couple of cautions involving Ford Mustangs. Chad McCumbee’s PF Racing Mustang’s front end was gone and done for the day. The other Mustang got loose after being hit from behind and was unable to get back up and running to continue the race, thus bringing out a caution.

The final laps came down to AWA McLaren and Wright Motorsports Porsche. They were the only cars competing for the win. In the end, the AWA McLaren with Kuno Wittmer and Chris Green won the race.

Over in the TCR category, Atlanta Speedwerks led the opening five laps before the Hyundai Veloster took over the lead. They led six laps before dealing with Bryan Herta Autosport cars. In the race’s final laps, it was all Bryan Herta Autosport with a one-two finish. The No.98 Hyundai of Ryan Norman and Parker Chase won the race, followed by the No.77 Hyundai of Michael Lewis and Taylor Gagler.

The Michelin Pilot Challenge will head to Watkins Glen International on Saturday, June 26th, at 2 pm on NBC Sports Gold Track Pass.
