After starting the season with two road games, Atlantic City FC (1-0-1) made its 2021 home debut at Silver Eagle Stadium in Egg Harbor Township, NJ, Saturday night against Hershey FC (0-2). In their last meeting on June 2nd, 2019, both teams played to a 2-2 draw.
Atlantic City FC went up 1-0 ten minutes into the game when Loic Jean-Baptiste scored from the left unmarked box. Eight minutes later, a collision involving Matt Broomall forced the Aces to change goalkeepers. Lucas Daunhauer was now the new goalkeeper.
Three minutes later, off a corner kick, the Aces took a 2-0 lead in the 21st minute that was headbutted into the net by Bissafi Dotte.
In the 32nd minute, Ahdan Taitmade made a great sliding goal with an assist from Loic Jean-Baptiste to make it a 3-0 lead heading into halftime. In the 40th minute, Hershey FC appeared to have scored by Hamza Moosvi, but the goal was waved off for offsides.
Atlantic City FC picked up where they left off in the first half when Jeremy Opong made it 4-0 in the 50th minute. Once again, the Aces offense was on the attack when Alex Pontoni shot from a long distance to the upper left corner of the net that made it 5-0 Atlantic City FC.
In the closing minutes of the game, David Lianes was tripped, and thus awarded a penalty kick. Lianes converted the penalty kick for the goal in the 89th minute for a 6-0 lead. Shortly after the goal, the final whistle blew, and the Aces defeated Hershey FC 6-0 to improve to 2-0-1 on the season.
Atlantic City FC played a well-balanced game all around. Their offense attacked when the opportunity came, and their defense didn’t allow Hershey FC to get many shots off. In three games this season, they’ve only allowed two goals.
Atlantic City FC will return to Silver Eagle Stadium next Sunday, May 30th, against West Chester United (2-0) at 2 pm on MyCujoo.com. West Chester United are coming off a 3-1 win over First State FC Midnight Riders.
