Lehigh Valley ends the road trip with a 7-2 win

The Lehigh Valley IronPigs (10-7) finished their twelve-game road trip Sunday afternoon at NBT Bank Stadium against the Syracuse Mets (4-13). The starting pitchers for the game were Bailey Falter for the IronPigs and Franklyn Kilome of the Mets.

The game was scoreless for the first two innings. At the top of the third inning, IronPigs second baseman Luke Williams started the inning with a walk. Then Kilome threw a wild pitch moving Williams to second base. Williams moved to third base after a sacrifice bunt from Romain Quinn. IronPigs left fielder Mickey Moniak singled to the right field, bringing home Williams to give Lehigh Valley a 1-0 advantage.

Two batters later, IronPigs shortstop Ruben Tejada walked to put runners on first and second. Then, IronPigs right fielder Cornelius Randolph doubled to center field, bringing both runners home to extend Lehigh Valley’s lead 3-0.

Moving ahead to the top of the sixth inning. IronPigs shortstop Ruben Tejada started the inning with a single to left field. Three batters later, with two outs, IronPigs catcher Jack Conley walked. Lehigh Valley brought up Ryan Cordell to pinch hit for Bailey Falter. Cordell crushed the ball out towards right field for a three-run home run for a 6-0 lead.

In the bottom of the sixth inning, Mets pitcher Marcel Renteria bunted to third base for a single. Two batters later, Mets third baseman Nick Meyer doubled to left field that scored Renteria to cut the IronPigs lead 6-1.

In the top of the seventh inning with two outs, IronPigs right fielder Cornelius Randolph singled to third base with no one covering. Then Randolph stole second base. IronPigs third baseman Austin Listi singled to right field, scoring Randolph for a 7-1 lead.

Moving to the bottom of the eighth inning, The IronPigs made a pitching change with David Paulino coming in for Mauricio Llovera. Mets left fielder Sebastian Elizalde singled to center field. Two batters later, Llovera hit Mets first baseman David Thompson. Two batters later, with two outs, Mets right fielder Quinn Brodey singled to left field that brought Elizalde home for a 7-2 IronPigs lead.

Moving to the top of the ninth inning, the IronPigs brought Kyle Dohy to close the game. Dohy walked Bruce Maxwell, hit Cody Bohanek then got the next two batters out. Dohy threw a wild pitch before walking Nick Meyer to load the bases. Lehigh Valley took Dohy out for Jeff Singer. Singer got the last out to end the game.

Lehigh Valley defeated the Syracuse Mets 7-2. IronPigs starting pitcher Bailey Falter pitched five innings, three hits allowed, and seven strikeouts. The rest of the IronPigs pitchers went four innings, four hits allowed, two runs, four walks, and four strikeouts.

The win went to Lehigh Valley pitcher Bailey Falter, while Mets pitcher Franklyn Kilome suffered the loss. IronPigs pitcher Jeff Singer gets his second save of the season.

Lehigh Valley returns to Coca-Cola Park starting Tuesday, May 25th, against the Worcester Red Sox at 7:05 pm on MiLB.com.
