IronPigs Pitchers combine for a One-Hit Shutout in a 6-0 win

Lehigh Valley IronPigs

The Lehigh Valley IronPigs (12-7) returned to Coca-Cola Park Wednesday night against the Worcester Red Sox (11-8). Lehigh Valley was looking for their third straight win. The starting pitchers for this game were IronPigs pitcher Cristopher Sanchez versus the Red Sox Kyle Hart.

The game went scoreless through three innings until Lehigh Valley erupted in the bottom of the fourth inning. IronPigs third baseman Austin Listi started the inning with a single. Two batters later, with one out, catcher Edgar Cabral doubled out to left field to put runners on second and third.

Lehigh Valley designated hitter Sal Gozzo was up. He struck out swinging, but Kyle Hart’s wild pitch allowed Gozzo to reach first base. The bases were loaded for center fielder Travis Jankowski. Hart walked Jankowski that brought home Listi for a 1-0 lead.

Then IronPigs second baseman Ruben Tejada singled towards the shortstop, scoring another run for a 2-0 lead. The Red Sox made a pitching change putting Matt Hall in the game. Hall walked left fielder Cornelius Randolph that extend the IronPigs lead 3-0. A sacrifice fly by right fielder Ryan Cordell made it a 4-0 lead. Lehigh Valley shortstop C.J. Chatham tripled out towards right that cleared the bases, and it was 6-0 IronPigs.

The IronPigs had a combined no-hitter going until the ninth inning. Jeff Singer closed the game out. He gave up a single to Red Sox’s first baseman Michael Chavez that ended the no-hit bid. Jeff Singer got the next two outs to end the game as Lehigh Valley shut out the Red Sox 6-0.

Lehigh Valley starting pitcher Cristopher Sanchez (5.1 IP, 1 BB, 8 SO) was the winning pitcher. IronPigs pitchers Bryan Mitchell, JD Hammer, and Jeff Singer combined for four innings, one hit, one walk, and six strikeouts. Kyle Hart (3.1 IP, 6 H, 5 ER, 3 BB, 5 SO) suffered the loss.

The IronPigs will be back at Coca-Cola Park for game three today at 7:05 pm on MiLB.com.
