IronPigs lose to the RailRiders 5-1

The Lehigh Valley IronPigs (14-12) were back at PNC Field for game three versus the Scranton/ Wilkes-Barre RailRiders (17-7). The IronPigs were derailed by the RailRiders Wednesday night 10-2. The starting pitchers for the game were Matt Moore (0-0, 0.00) of Lehigh Valley and Brian Keller (0-0, 3.46) for Scranton/ Wilkes-Barre.

In the bottom of the first inning, with runners on the corners and one out. RailRiders right fielder Trey Amburgey doubled to left field, scoring Hoy Jun Park for a 1-0 lead. Three batters later, with two outs and the bases loaded, Matt Moore walked RailRiders shortstop Andrew Velazquez, scoring Chris Gittens, and Scranton/ Wilkes-Barre’s lead was 2-0.

At the top of the fourth inning, with a runner on first base and two outs. IronPigs first baseman Darick Hall doubled to center field that scored a run to cut the RailRiders lead to 2-1.

Moving ahead to the bottom of the sixth inning with the bases loaded and two out. The IronPigs made a pitching change with Damon Jones in for Julian Garcia. Jones threw a wild pitch. Everyone moved up, and Hoy Jun Park scored which extended the RailRiders lead 3-1. Jones then walked Trey Amburgey to reload the bases. Then, center fielder Socrates Brito singled out towards center field, scoring two more runs for a 5-1 lead.

Moving ahead to the top of the ninth inning, the RailRiders made a pitching change with Luis Garcia in for Braden Bristo. Bristo got the last three outs to end the game. The IronPigs were defeated by the RailRiders 5-1.

The winning pitcher went to Kyle Barraclough (2.2 IP, 1 BB, 5 KO), while the loss went to Matt Moore (4.2 IP, 4 H, 2 ER, 3 BB, 2 SO).

Lehigh Valley and Scranton/ Wilkes-Barre will play game four at PNC Field today at 6:35 pm on MiLB.com. Today’s starting pitchers will be RailRiders Brody Koerner (1-1, 2.95) against Lehigh Valley’s Bailey Falter (1-0, 1.93).
