IronPigs shutout by Red Wings 3-0

Lehigh Valley IronPigs

The Lehigh Valley IronPigs (17-14) were back at Coca-Cola Park for game two Wednesday night against the Rochester Red Wings (10-21). Adonis Medina (3-2, 4.56 ERA) of Lehigh Valley versus Tyler Eppler (0-3, 8.20 ERA) for Rochester were the starting pitchers for the game.

There were some lineup changes for the IronPigs in yesterday’s game. Lehigh Valley had right fielder Adam Haseley, and shortstop Didi Gregorius make rehab assignment starts.

The game was scoreless for the first three innings. At the top of the fourth inning, with runners at the corners and one out. Red Wings first baseman Brandon Snyder doubled to left field, scoring a run for a 1-0 Red Wings lead. Another runner was trying to score, but Gregorius’s throw to Marchan tagged him out.

Medina walked two batters that loaded the bases. Then, Red Wings catcher Tres Barrera’s singled to center field, scoring two more runs for a 3-0 lead.

Moving ahead to the ninth inning, the Red Wings brought Justin Miller to close out the game. He got all three outs, and the IronPigs were shut out by the Red Wings 3-0. Lehigh Valley were only able to get one hit in this game.

Adonis Medina (4.0 IP, 5 H, 3 ER, 2 BB, 4 SO) suffered the loss, his third of the season, while Tyler Eppler (7.0 IP, 1 H, 2 BB, 5 SO) earned the win. Red Wings closer Justin Miller (1.0 IP, 1 SO) earned his fourth save of the season.

Both teams return to Coca-Cola Park for game three today at 7:05 pm on MiLB.com. The IronPigs send Bailey Falter (2-0, 1.91 ERA, 41 SO) versus Rogelio Armenteros (0-4, 6.04 ERA, 26 SO) for Rochester.
