A half-hour after game one concluded, the Lehigh Valley IronPigs (17-17) were looking to end a three-game losing streak against the Rochester Red Wings (13-21). The starting pitchers for game two were Cristopher Sanchez (1-1, 3.74 ERA) of Lehigh Valley versus Ben Braymer (1-3, 7.25 ERA) for Rochester.
In the bottom of the first inning, with runners on first and second and two outs, IronPigs right fielder Mickey Moniak hit an RBI single to right field that put Lehigh Valley up 1-0.
Moving ahead to the bottom of the fourth inning with a runner on first base and two outs, Lehigh Valley second baseman Sal Gozzo singled to center field, scoring a run that extended the IronPigs lead 2-0.
At the top of the sixth inning, with two outs and a runner on second base, Red Wings second baseman Humberto Arteaga hit an RBI single to center field, scoring a run that cut the IronPigs lead 2-1. After the single, Lehigh Valley made a pitching change with Neftali Feliz in for Sanchez. Feliz got the last out.
In the top of the seventh inning, Feliz got all three outs to end the game. The IronPigs snapped a three-game losing streak 2-1 over the Rochester Red Wings.
Cristopher Sanchez (5.2 IP, 1 ER, 2 BB, 6 SO) earned his second win of the season, while the loss went to Rochester pitcher Ben Braymer (2.0 IP, 3 H, 1 ER, 2 BB). Neftali Feliz earned his fourth save of the season.
Both teams will finish the six-game series at Coca-Cola Park tomorrow at 1:35 pm with Matt Moore (0-1, 4.32 ERA) going for Lehigh Valley versus Rochester’s Sterling Sharp (1-1, 3.68 ERA).
