Adam Haseley’s Four RBI’s propels IronPigs to an 8-2 Win

The Lehigh Valley IronPigs (18-19) were back for game two Wednesday night at Polar Park versus the Worcester Red Sox (24-13). Lehigh Valley was clobbered 10-1 Tuesday night and are 2-5 this year against the Red Sox. The month of June has not been kind to the IronPigs as they are 5-8. Worcester is on a seven-game winning streak.

The starting pitchers for the game were Ramon Rosso (0-1, 6.00 ERA) for Lehigh Valley to counter him Daniel Gossett (4-1, 3.58 ERA). Gossett has won his last four starts, including a win against the IronPigs back on May 29th.

The IronPigs struck first at the top of the second inning with a Mickey Moniak solo home run out towards center field for a 1-0 lead.

At the top of the fifth inning, with runners on the corners and one out, IronPigs second baseman Scott Kingery doubled to center field, bringing home a run for a 2-0 lead. Then, right fielder Adam Haseley hit a two-run single extending Lehigh Valley’s lead 4-0.

The Red Sox made a pitching change with Zac Grotz in for Daniel Gossett. Two batters later, with two outs and runners on first and second, Mickey Moniak doubled, bringing home two more runners for a 6-0 lead.

In the top of the sixth inning, with two outs and a runner on first base, Adam Haseley crushed a two-run home run out towards center for an 8-0 lead.

Moving ahead to the bottom of the eighth inning, JD Hammer was the new pitcher for the IronPigs. After loading the bases with two outs, Hammer walked Franchy Cordero, scoring a run that cut Lehigh Valley’s lead to 8-1. Then Red Sox third baseman Yairo Munoz singled that scored another run 8-2. The IronPigs made a pitching change going with Neftali Feliz. He got the last out.

In the bottom of the ninth inning, Feliz walked the first two batters before getting the next three outs that ended the game. The IronPigs defeated the Red Sox 8-2, snapping Worcester’s seven-game winning streak. IronPigs starting pitcher Ramon Rosso went (3.0 IP, 1 H, and 2 SO).

The winning pitcher went to Lehigh Valley’s Ethan Evanko (3.0 IP, 1 H, 2 SO), while the loss went to Daniel Gossett (4.1 IP, 8 H, 6 ER, 1 BB, 3 SO).

Both teams return to Polar Park for game three today at 6:35 pm, with David Parkinson (0-3, 4.71 ERA) going for Lehigh Valley versus Worcester’s Tanner Houck (0-1, 9.00 ERA) on MiLB.com.
