Shortly after game one concluded with the IronPigs losing 5-2, Lehigh Valley (21-30) returned thirty minutes later for game two against the Buffalo Bisons (30-19). Lehigh Valley are on a five-game losing streak.
On the mound for Lehigh Valley was David Parkinson (0-5, 6.41 ERA), while Buffalo started Zach Logue (1-0, 3.00 ERA).
In the bottom of the first inning with one out, Bisons catcher Alejandro Kirk’s solo home run out to left field put Buffalo up 1-0.
Moving ahead to the bottom of the second inning with a runner on second, Bisons first baseman Tyler White doubled to center field that extended Buffalo’s lead 2-0. Two batters later, Buffalo’s second baseman Dilson Herrera doubled to center field for a 3-0 lead. Then, with a runner on second, Bisons right fielder Breyvic Valera lined out to left field, scoring another run 4-0.
At the top of the fifth inning, with two outs and a runner on second, IronPigs center fielder Matt Vierling doubled to right field that ended the shutout 4-1. Unfortunately, rain began to fall before the bottom of the fifth inning started, and the game was suspended.
The game resumed shortly after 5:30 pm. At the top of the sixth inning, with a runner on third, IronPigs second baseman Ruben Tejada grounded out to first base, scoring a run that cut the Bisons lead in half 4-2. Four batters later with the bases loaded, Lehigh Valley catcher Rafael Marchan was walked to bring in a run. This made it a one-run game 4-3. Then, IronPigs center fielder Matt Vierling was walked that tied the game 4-4. Not long after Lehigh Valley tied the game, the rain came and another delay.
After a three-hour rain delay, the game resumed. The Bison’s brought in pitcher Dany Jimenez for the top of the seventh inning. With two outs and a runner on first, IronPigs third baseman Austin Listi doubled to left field, scoring a run that put Lehigh Valley up 5-4.
Mauricio Llovera came in for Lehigh Valley in the bottom of the seventh inning. He got the first two batters out, gave up two singles before getting Bisons first baseman Rowdy Tellez to pop out which ended the game. The IronPigs snapped a five-game losing streak 5-4.
The winning pitcher went to Lehigh Valley’s JD Hammer (2.0 IP, 1 H, 2 SO), and the loss went to Bisons pitcher Dany Jimenez (1.0 IP, 1 H, 1 ER, 1 BB, 1 SO). IronPigs pitcher Mauricio Llovera (1.0 IP, 2 H, 2 SO) earned the save.
Both teams had a thirty-minute break before the next game started. Spencer Howard (0-0, 1.00 ERA) was on the mound for Lehigh Valley against Tommy Milone (0-0, 6.00 ERA) of Buffalo.
