IronPigs squander one-run lead to lose 2-1 in Trenton

The Lehigh Valley IronPigs (26-34) squandered a one-run lead Tuesday night in Trenton to lose 2-1 versus the Buffalo Bisons (34-24). Lehigh Valley starting pitcher David Paulino pitched four shutout innings (4.0 IP, 4 H, 2 SO).

At the top of the second inning, Lehigh Valley got on the board when first baseman Darick Hall grounded out to first base, scoring a run that put the IronPigs up 1-0.

David Paulino and Mike Adams (2.0 IP, 1 BB, 2 SO) kept Buffalo off the board until the bottom of the seventh inning when the IronPigs brought in Cam Bedrosian. Bedrosian struck out Bisons first baseman Tyler White.

Then, he gave up a single to Bisons right fielder Cullen Large. Two batters later, Bisons center fielder Logan Warmoth doubled to left field that tied the game 1-1. The next batter up was Bisons third baseman Nash Knight. Knight doubled to right field that put Buffalo in the lead 2-1. Bedrosian (1.0 IP, 3 H, 2 ER, 2 SO) was taken out in the bottom of the eighth inning.

At the top of the ninth inning, Buffalo brought in Hobie Harris to close the game. However, a flyout from IronPigs catcher Rafael Marchan, a strikeout by Charlie Tilson, and a ground out by Matt Vierling ended the game. The IronPigs lost 2-1 to the Buffalo Bisons and are now 2-5 this year against the Bisons.

The win went to Buffalo relief pitcher Travis Bergen (1.0 IP, 1 H, 1 SO), while the loss went to IronPigs pitcher Cam Bedrosian. Bisons pitcher Hobie Harris (1.0 IP, 1 SO) earned his fifth save of the season.

Game two of the six-game series at Trenton Thunder Ballpark continues today at 7 pm.
