IronPigs bats go quiet in a shutout loss to Buffalo 4-0

Shortly after their 12-2 win, the Lehigh Valley IronPigs (27-38) returned to play game two Sunday afternoon versus the Buffalo Bisons (36-29) at Trenton Thunder Ballpark. The IronPigs managed to get four hits in a shutout loss to Buffalo 4-0. IronPigs pitcher Tyler Alexander (1-1, 5.40 ERA) was on the mound for Lehigh Valley against Jeremy Beasley (2-0, 1.93 ERA) for Buffalo.

In the bottom of the first inning, with a runner on second, Bisons shortstop Kevin Smith hit his fifteenth home run over the left field wall that put Buffalo up 2-0.

Then in the bottom of the third inning, with a runner on second, Bisons first baseman Tyler White hit his fourth home run of the season over the center field wall that extend Buffalo’s lead 4-0.

Moving to the bottom of the seventh inning, Bryan Baker came in for Buffalo to close out the game. He got all three outs as the IronPigs were shut out by the Bisons 4-0.

Buffalo Bisons relief pitcher Patrick Murphy (2.0 IP, 1 H, 1 BB, 1 SO) picked up the win while the loss went to IronPigs starting pitcher Tyler Alexander (3.0 IP, 4 H, 4 R, 4 ER, 2 BB, 3 SO).

Lehigh Valley will have off tomorrow before returning to Coca-Cola Park to begin a seven-game series with the Worcester Red Sox on Tuesday at 7:05 pm on MiLB.com.
