Darick Hall, Dalton Guthrie, and Mickey Moniak combine for eight RBIs in an 11-4 win

The Lehigh Valley IronPigs (29-40) defeated the Worcester Red Sox (37-30) 11-4 Friday night at Coca-Cola Park behind a combined eight RBIs by Darick Hall, Dalton Guthrie, and Mickey Moniak. Tyler Alexander (1-2, 7.15 ERA) started for Lehigh Valley versus Connor Seabold (0-0, 0.00 ERA) of Worcester.

The IronPigs jumped to a 1-0 lead in the bottom of the first inning on an RBI triple from center fielder Mickey Moniak. Then, at the top of the second inning, the Red Sox tied the game 1-1 on an RBI single by first baseman Josh Ockimey.

In the bottom of the third inning, with runners on the corners, IronPigs left fielder Mickey Moniak hit a two-run RBI double to right field. This put Lehigh Valley on top 3-1. It was Moniak’s third RBI of the night.

With the bases loaded in the bottom of the fourth inning, IronPigs third baseman Dalton Guthrie cleared the bases with an RBI double that extended the lead to 6-1.

In the bottom of the fifth inning, with runners on first and second base, IronPigs first baseman Darick Hall singled to right field, scoring a run for a 7-1 lead. Then, a sacrifice fly by IronPigs catcher Logan Moore made it 8-1.

Red Sox brought in a new pitcher Durbin Feltman in the bottom of the seventh inning. Then IronPigs’ first baseman Darick Hall hit a solo home run over the right-center field wall for a 9-1 lead. It was Hall’s sixth home run of the season.

At the top of the eighth inning, with runners on first and second base, Red Sox center fielder Tate Matheny hit an opposite three-run home run out towards right field that cut the IronPigs lead 9-4. In the bottom of the eighth inning, with runners on the corners, IronPigs left fielder Matt Vierling hit a two-run single to left field that made it 11-4.

At the top of the ninth inning, IronPigs pitcher Braden Zarbnisky got the last three outs to end the game, and the IronPigs snapped a two-game skid 11-4.

Lehigh Valley starting pitcher Tyler Alexander (5.2 IP, 6 H, 1 ER, 1 BB, 6 SO) earned his second win of the season. The loss went to Red Sox pitcher Connor Seabold (3.1 IP, 3 H, 3 ER, 4 BB, 1 SO).

Both teams will play a doubleheader starting today at 4:35 pm. Then game two starts thirty minutes after game one.
