The Atlantic City FC played its third NISA Independent Cup match Saturday night at Rowan Soccer Complex in Glassboro, NJ. The Aces cup run ended in a 1-0 loss to the Maryland Bobcats FC of the NISA.
Atlantic City FC had a couple of chances to go up in the first half but could not find the back of the net. In the 32nd minute, Loic Jean-Baptiste had an opportunity to score. However, his shot went over the crossbar. The game was scoreless at halftime.
Maryland started to pressure the Aces’ defense in the second half. In the 62nd minute, Bobcats FC broke the scoreless tie 1-0 when Pilawe Patrick Pato cross past three Atlantic FC players before goalkeeper Lucas Daunhauer tried to save it. However, Eduardo Jimenez was right there with an open net and scored.
Atlantic City FC had a couple of more chances to tie it up but were unable to as the Maryland Bobcats FC shut out Atlantic City FC 1-0. With the win, Maryland won the Mid-Atlantic championship for the second year in a row and will move on to the next round of the NISA Independent Cup.
Atlantic City FC finished the night with six shots, and three shots on goal. Maryland Bobcats FC had nineteen shots and five shots on goal. Bobcats FC Goalkeeper Joel Isyaq earned the clean sheet.
