The BC Lions got their first win of the season Thursday night at McMahan Stadium over the Calgary Stampeders 15-9. Calgary quarterback Bo Levi Mitchell threw four interceptions.

The game was sloppy on both ends. The lone touchdown came in the second quarter from quarterback Mike Reilly’s one-yard touchdown run. The rest of the points came from field goals and a dead ball in the endzone. In the CFL, a team is awarded a single point if the ball does not leave the endzone.

The highlight of the game was the BC Lions’ defense. They picked off Bo Levi Mitchell four times and sacked Mitchell three times. Mitchell finished the game with 21/38 attempts for 290-yards and four interceptions. The Lions defense only weakness was stopping the run. They allowed 67 rushing yards, with Ka’Deem Carey of Calgary leading with 48 rushing yards on eleven carries.

Calgary’s defense only managed to sack Mike Reilly two times and forced a fumble. They also struggled to stop the run. Lions quarterback Mike Reilly finished the game with 26/33 passing attempts for 342-yards and one rushing touchdown. Lions running back Chris Rainey led the team in rushing with six carries for 43-yards.

BC Lions wide receiver Bryan Burnham led in receiving yards with four receptions for 121-yards. Calgary Stampeders wide receiver Kamar Jordan led the team in receiving yards with three receptions for 68-yards.
