Atlantic City FC begins a new chapter in NISA Nation

Atlantic City FC

On Friday, Atlantic City FC began a new chapter in its four-year history when it became the first team to join a new league called NISA Nation. The Aces recently competed in the 2021 NISA Independent Cup tournament.

The NISA Nation was founded in September 2020. The new league’s mission is to provide independent clubs with aspirations of becoming a pro NISA club. The Aces will start in the Fall of 2021.

Atlantic City FC Co-Owner Andrew Weilgus talked about what it meant to be part of upstart NISA Nation. “NISA nation is a great chance for us to grow our program into a full calendar year club with NISA nation in the fall and spring and our NPSL club in the summer.”

Atlantic City FC was founded in 2017 as a member of the NPSL. In their first season, the Aces finished 5-5 in 2018. Then, they went 7-2-1 in 2019 and 8-0-2 in 2021, qualifying for the playoffs in back-to-back seasons.

For those curious about the future of the Aces in the NPSL. Weilgus said the team isn’t going anywhere. “Absolutely not – we love the league and the summer season it provides.”

The NISA Nation will have two regions with eight clubs each. The NISA Nation will announce more teams in the coming weeks.
