After losing to the Winnipeg Blue Bombers last week 20-7, the Toronto Argonauts looked for payback Saturday afternoon at BMO Field.

The Argonauts took a 3-0 lead with 12:26 left in the first quarter on a 52-yard field goal by Boris Bede. On the next possession for the Argonauts, they marched down the field before D.J. Foster ran in for a ten-yard touchdown that extended the Argonauts lead 10-0 with 7:37 left in the first quarter.

After a two-and-out for the Blue Bombers, the Argonauts got the ball back. The Argonauts added another field goal, a 31-yarder from Boris Bede for a 13-0 lead at the end of the first quarter.

In the second quarter, Argonauts quarterback Nick Arbuckle lost the ball after being sacked by Jackson Jeffcoat. The Blue Bombers Jesse Briggs recovered the ball before taking it to the house for an 83-yard touchdown. The Blue Bombers trailed the Argonauts 13-7 with 12:24 left.

When the Argonauts got the ball back on the next possession, they marched down to the Blue Bomber’s 30-yard line. They then had to settle for a 37-yard field goal by Boris Bede to make it 16-7 with 8:31 left in the second quarter.

With 3:11 left in the second quarter, the Blue Bombers pulled within two 16-14 when quarterback Zach Collaros threw a 51-yard touchdown pass to Darvin Adams. Then, the Argonauts got the seven points right back when quarterback Nick Arbuckle threw a 35-yard touchdown pass to DaVaris Daniels with fourteen seconds left to go up 22-14 at halftime.

In the third quarter, the Blue Bomber’s kicker Tyler Crapigna attempted a 37-yard field goal with 9:23 left but missed it wide left. The Argonaut’s special teams did not return it out of the endzone.  Because they did not return the ball, the Blue Bombers came away with one point trailing 22-15.

On the next Argonauts possession, they had two rushing plays for 42-yards before quarterback Nick Arbuckle threw a pass to wide receiver Dejon Brissett for 31-yards. This put the Argonauts on the one-yard line. This set up a Nick Arbuckle quarterback sneak play into the endzone with 7:13 left to go up 29-15.

With 3:49 left in the third quarter, Argonaut’s kicker Boris Bede missed a 68-yard field goal that went into the endzone. The Blue Bombers’ special teams did not return it out of the endzone, thus giving up a point to the Blue Bombers 30-15. The game remained 30-15 at the end of the third quarter.

In the fourth quarter, the Blue Bombers punted with 11:59 left as Argonauts special teams player Daniel Braverman ran out of the bounds in the endzone to concede a single point 30-16. The Argonauts’ offense stalled in the fourth quarter.

The Blue Bombers pulled within a touchdown 30-23 with 2:12 left in the fourth quarter after quarterback Zach Collaros completed a six-yard touchdown pass to Rasheed Bailey.

When the Argonauts got the ball back, they kept the ball on the ground and were able to run the clock out to hold on to a 30-23 win. It’s the Argonauts second win of the season.

Argonauts quarterback Nick Arbuckle finished the day 23/32 for 310-yards, one touchdown pass, and one rushing touchdown. Argonauts running back DJ Foster led the team with ten carries for 101-yards and one touchdown. DaVaris Daniels led the team in receiving with seven receptions for 100-yards and one touchdown. The defense managed one sack and one interception.
