The Hamilton Tiger-Cats cruised to a 27-10 win Friday night over the Montreal Alouettes at Percival Molson Memorial Stadium.
Tiger-Cats kick returner Frankie Williams gave Hamilton great field position on the 49-yard line. Then, Tiger-Cats quarterback Dane Evans led the team down the field before finishing the drive with a 30-yard touchdown pass to Steven Dunbar Jr. This put the Tiger-Cats up 7-0 with 12:54 left in the first quarter.
With 5:30 left in the first quarter, Tiger-Cats kicker Michael Domagala kicked a 13-yard field goal for a 10-0 lead. The Tiger-Cats remained up 10-0 at the end of the first quarter.
Alouettes quarterback Vernon Adams completed a ten-yard touchdown pass to wide receiver Quan Bray in the second quarter. This cut the Tiger-Cats lead 10-7 with 12:43 left in the second quarter.
The Tiger-Cats marched down the field to the Montreal 38-yard line on the next possession before kicker Michael Domagala kicked a 46-yard field goal. This gave the Tiger-Cats a 13-7 lead with 8:10 left in the second quarter. With 1:57 left in the second quarter, Alouettes kicker David Cote kicked a 29-yard field goal to cut into the lead of the Tiger-Cats 13-10. The score remained at 13-10, heading into halftime.
Neither team added points in the third quarter. Both offenses moved the ball down the field before stalling. Each team attempted a field goal, and both kickers missed. The Tiger-Cats still led 13-10 after the third quarter.
The Tiger-Cats started to pull away in the fourth quarter. With 10:22 left, Tiger-Cats quarterback Dane Evans connected to fullback Nikola Kalinic for a three-yard touchdown pass to go up 20-10. Then with 1:20 left in the fourth quarter, Tiger-Cats Sean Thomas Erlington put the game away with a five-yard touchdown run for a 27-10 lead.
On the final possession for the Alouettes, they went three-and-out. Then the Tiger-Cats went into a victory formation to end the game. The Tiger-Cats defeated the Alouettes 27-10.
Hamilton Tiger-Cats quarterback Dane Evans finished the night 15/22 for 183-yards and two touchdowns. Running back Sean Thomas Erlington led the team in rushing with ten carries for 73-yards and one rushing touchdown. Wide receiver Steven Dunbar led the team in receiving six receptions for 95-yards and one touchdown. The Tiger-Cats defense record one sack and one interception.
Montreal Alouettes quarterback Vernon Adams finished the night 16/31 for 171-yards, one touchdown, and one interception. William Stanback led the team with twelve carries for 40-yards. Wide receiver BJ Cunningham led the team in receiving with five carries for 59-yards. The Alouettes’ defense recorded six sacks in the game, two of them from Michael Wakefield.
The Alouettes head to TD Place next Friday, September 3rd, against the Ottawa Redblacks at 7:30 pm on ESPN+. The Hamilton Tiger-Cats return home to Tim Hortons Field next Monday, September 6th, against the Toronto Argonauts at 1 pm on ESPN+.
