Adam Haseley’s four RBIs help IronPigs defeat RailRiders

Lehigh Valley IronPigs

The Lehigh Valley IronPigs (52-63) won a wild game Friday night 10-8 over the Scranton/Wilkes-Barre RailRiders (65-49) at Coca-Cola Park led by right fielder Adam Haseley’s four RBIs.

Jack Perkins (0-2, 4.38 ERA) started for Lehigh Valley versus Scranton/Wilkes-Barre’s Shawn Semple (0-0, 0.00 ERA).

The IronPigs took a 1-0 lead in the bottom of the second inning after a bases-loaded walk by RailRiders pitcher Shawn Semple. IronPigs shortstop Arquimedes Gamboa drew the walk that put the IronPigs in the lead.

In the bottom of the third inning, with IronPigs runners on first and second base, first baseman Darick Hall singled on a sharp line drive to center field. This scored a run for a 2-0 lead. Then, IronPigs catcher Rafael Marchan doubled to right field, adding another run 3-0. This was followed by second baseman Nick Maton’s single, scoring two more runs for a 5-0 lead.

In the bottom of the fourth inning, Luke Williams singled and stole second base. Later, IronPigs designated hitter Jorge Bonifacio singled to center field, scoring Williams for a 6-0 lead.

At the top of the fifth inning, with a runner on second base, RailRiders center fielder Estevan Florial doubled to right field, ending the shutout 6-1. Four batters later, RailRiders third baseman Armando Alvarez doubled to left field, cutting the IronPigs lead in half 6-3. The IronPigs then made a pitching change. Seranthony Dominguez came in for Jack Perkins. Jack Perkins threw 83 pitches (4.2 IP, 7 H, 3 R, 3 ER, 1 BB, 6 SO).

In the bottom of the fifth inning, right fielder Adam Haseley came up to bat with IronPigs runners on first and second base.  He blasted a three-run home run to right field, getting the runs back to 9-3.

At the top of the sixth, with the bases loaded, IronPigs pitcher Seranthony Dominguez hit left fielder Greg Allen, walking in a run 9-4. Then IronPigs replaced Dominguez with Jakob Hernandez. He struck out RailRiders designated hitter Trey Amburgey before giving up a single to RailRiders first baseman Rob Brantley. This scored two runs for a three-run game 9-6.

In the bottom of the seventh inning, Greg Weissert became the RailRiders new pitcher. With runners on first and second base, IronPigs right fielder Adam Haseley singled to right field, scoring a run for a 10-6 lead.

At the top of the ninth inning, Egg Harbor Township native Mike Adams pitched for the IronPigs. With two outs and a runner on first base, RailRiders catcher Max McDowell hit a two-run home run out towards left field that cut the IronPigs lead 10-8. Luckily, Mike Adams was able to get pinch hitter Chris Gittens to ground out, which ended the game. The IronPigs won 10-8.

The win went to IronPigs pitcher Jakob Hernandez (1.2 IP, 1 H, 2 SO), while the loss went to RailRiders starter pitcher Shawn Semple (2.1 IP, 4 H, 5 R, 5 ER, 4 BB).

The IronPigs will play two games tomorrow starting at 4:05 pm. The first game is a continuation of Wednesday’s game. It will be played in nine innings, while the second game will be played in seven innings.
