NTT IndyCar Series releases 2022 schedule

Before the NTT IndyCar Series raced at WeatherTech Raceway Laguna Seca, they released the 2022 schedule Sunday morning.

The 2022 schedule will feature 17 races with the return of Toronto and Iowa. The season will start on February 27^th, on the Streets of St. Petersburg, and concludes on September 11^th, at WeatherTech Raceway Laguna Seca.

Making their returns are the Streets of Toronto on July 17^th. That race will air exclusively on Peacock, and Iowa Speedway will host a doubleheader weekend on July 23^rd and July 24^th.

With their new television deal, the NTT IndyCar Series will have 14 races on NBC, two on USA Network, and one on Peacock.

The only changes to the schedule are Long Beach is moved to April 10^th. Raceway at Belle Isle Park will not host a double, just one race on June 5^th, and Texas Motor Speedway will have one race on March 20^th.

President and CEO Mark Miles on the 2022 schedule, said. “This schedule continues to build on the growth and momentum the NTT INDYCAR SERIES has achieved, especially in 2021. Our terrific partnership with NBC Sports has led to a fantastic opportunity to place an unparalleled 14 events on broadcast television while completing the rest of the schedule with USA Network and Peacock.”

Miles added, “Our drivers and teams will give the fans a strong, earlier start with six consecutive races on NBC, building even more anticipation for the crown jewel of the Indianapolis 500 in May. Our summer schedule also is full of action, with no extended breaks in the calendar, leading into the crowning of a champion on the West Coast with our last two races also on NBC.”

The start time of the 2022 events will be announced at a later date.
