Calgary Stampeders sign four players

On Monday, the Calgary Stampeders announced the signings of wide receiver Shawn Bane Jr., defensive lineman Tracy Sprinkle, defensive back Javien Elliott, and running back Aca’Cedric Ware. The Stampeders released wide receiver George Campbell from the practice squad.

Shawn Bane Jr. originally signed with the Stampeders in 2020 and attended training camp. He was one of the final players that were cut.

The 26-year-old from Sarasota, FL, played four years at Northwest Missouri State. He started in 48 games with 212 catches for 3,363-yards, 31 touchdowns, 51 rushing yards, and one rushing touchdown. He was also used as a punt returner, tallying 878-yards and two touchdowns.

Shawn Bane Jr. went undrafted in the 2019 NFL Draft and tried out for the Atlanta Falcons.

Tracy Sprinkle is a 26-year-old from Cleveland, OH. He attended college at Ohio State and played 14 games. He had 20 tackles, one pass defended, and one forced fumble.

After college, Sprinkle tried out for the Carolina Panthers, Cleveland Browns, and Houston Texans. He played for the Atlanta Legends (AAF) and DC Defenders (XFL). In 2019 for the Legends, he had 22 tackles and five sacks. In 2020 with the Defenders, he had 14 tackles and one sack.

Javien Elliott is a 28-year-old from Panama City, FL. He went to college at Tallahassee Community College and Florida State. In 2015 with the Seminoles, Elliott played ten games with 37 tackles, one sack, one interception, three passes defended, and two forced fumbles.

He went undrafted in the 2016 NFL Draft and signed with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. He spent three years with the Buccaneers and one with the Panthers in 2019. He played 52 games and started ten of those. He had 77 tackles, two interceptions, four passes defended, and three quarterback hits.

Aca’Cedric Ware is a 24-year-old from DeSoto, TX. He played four years at USC from 2015-18. At USC, he played 46 games with 264 carries for 1,505-yards, ten touchdowns, and 19 receptions for 126-yards. In 2019, he tried out for the Indianapolis Colts and spent time with the Tampa Buccaneers practice squad in 2020.

In 2021, he played for the Sea Lions of The Spring League. He started in ten games and had 19 carries for 76-yards and two touchdowns.  

The Stampeders next game is on Saturday, October 2nd, against the Saskatchewan Roughriders at 7 pm on ESPN+.
