On Sunday, the Montreal Alouettes announced that Greg Quick has been promoted from Defensive and Special Teams Assistant to a Defensive Line Coach. He replaces Todd Howard, who was relieved last week.
On Quick’s promotion, Montreal Alouettes Head Coach Khari Jones said, “We would like to thank Todd for everything that he has done for the Alouettes these past years. We felt that we needed to make this change for the good of the team. Greg Quick’s defensive experience and expertise allow us to make this change in season.”
Greg Quick has been coaching for 33 years between college and the CFL. After spending 25 years coaching college, he moved to the CFL as a linebackers coach for the Toronto Argonauts in 2010. He has spent eight years in the CFL.
This is Quick’s third stint with the Alouettes. He originally joined them in 2014 as a linebackers coach. After his stint with the Saskatchewan Roughriders in 2015, he returned to the Alouettes as a linebackers coach in 2016-17. He left after the 2017 season and returned to the Argonauts in 2018. He left the CFL for two years before returning to the Alouettes this year.
The Montreal Alouettes play the Hamilton Tiger-Cats at Tim Hortons Field on Saturday, October 2nd, at 4 pm on ESPN+.
