Shortly before the NTT IndyCar Series concluded the 2021 season at Long Beach. Ed Carpenter Racing announced that Rinus VeeKay has re-signed with the team for the 2022 season.

The 21-year-old from Hoofddorp, Netherlands, wrapped up his second full-time season. This season, he had one win at the Indianapolis Road Course in May and two podium finishes. He has made 29 career starts with one pole, one win, and three podium finishes. On Sunday, VeeKay dealt with a mechanical issue and finished in 25th place.

Rinus VeeKay’s statement on returning to ECR said, “I am very excited to have another season with Ed Carpenter Racing! We made so much progress this year, I had my first win in IndyCar and made many great memories. Next year, we can be better than we’ve ever been!”

He added, “We want to be championship contenders, to go for even better results, more frequent wins, and podium finishes. The atmosphere at ECR is perfect for that, it feels like a group of friends who are eager to work hard for strong results. I am excited to continue that in 2022 and not having anything change!”

Rinus VeeKay made a name for himself in the Road to Indy. In 2017, he was a runner-up for the USF2000 championship. In 2018, he won the Indy Pro 2000 championship and was a runner-up for the 2019 Indy Light championship.

ECR owner Ed Carpenter on VeeKay returning said, “I am very happy that Rinus will be back behind the wheel for ECR in 2022,” said Carpenter. “Rinus has continued to show that he has the talent and work ethic to be a champion, and that’s the goal of our team. We look forward to more success next season!”

Ed Carpenter Racing just concluded its tenth season in the NTT IndyCar Series. Rinus VeeKay is the longest-tenure driver to drive for ECR. The team is located in Indianapolis, IN.
