Edmonton Elks

On Monday, the Edmonton Elks signed former Calgary Stampeders DL Chris Casher. To make room for Casher, the team released DB Brian Walker.

The 27-year-old from Mobile, Alabama, went to college at both Florida State and Faulkner University. He was part of Florida State’s 2013 National Championship team. He went undrafted in the 2017 NFL Draft and was signed by the Oakland Raiders. He was released by the Raiders that same year and joined the New York Giants. He was part of the Giants final cuts.

In October of 2017, Casher made the jump to the CFL, singing with Winnipeg Blue Bombers. He played the last few games for the Blue Bombers during the 2017 season.

After being one of the final cuts for the Blue Bombers, Casher signed with the Calgary Stampeders. He was on the Stampeders practice squad in 2018 when the team won the 106th Grey Cup. In 2019, Casher broke out with Calgary, playing 16 games with 34 tackles and seven sacks.

In 2020, he signed a one-year contract with the BC Lions. After the cancellation of the 2020 season, he re-signed with the team. However, he was released in February of this year.
