Calgary Stampeders

On Wednesday, the Calgary Stampeders announced the signing of former Oklahoma State star linebacker Justin Phillips.

The 25-year-old from Houston, TX, was a standout at Oklahoma State. He played four years with the Cowboys. During his senior year, he was named captain and led the team with 98 tackles. In 42 career games, he made 221 tackles, 6.5 sacks, three interceptions (two of them returned for a touchdown), six passes defended, six forced fumbles, and two fumble recoveries.

After college, he went undrafted in the 2019 NFL Draft. He signed with the Dallas Cowboys as an undrafted free agent. Later, he was waved by the Cowboys.

Then, he signed with the Oakland Raiders practice squad. He would be promoted to the active roster and played four games with seven tackles. Then, he was waved on an injury settlement after suffering a season-ending knee injury in the seventh game of the 2019 season.

Justin Phillips joined the Washington Football Team in January 2021. However, he was released during training camp.

Justin Phillips has been placed on the suspended list while he completes the mandatory quarantine period.

The Calgary Stampeders host the Saskatchewan Roughriders on Saturday, October 2nd, at 7 pm on ESPN+.
