Over the weekend, the Toronto Argonauts and Hamilton Tiger-Cats made some roster moves. The Tiger-Cats released a pair of wide receivers while the Argonauts signed a familiar face.

Hamilton Tiger-Cats

The Hamilton Tiger-Cats released wide receivers DeVier Posey and Marcus Tucker. DeVier Posey recently signed an extension with the Tiger-Cats in February. The 31-year-old from Redwood City, California, went to college at Ohio State and was drafted by the Houston Texans in the third round of the 2012 NFL Draft.

Posey played 26 games with the Texans and had 22 catches for 272-yards. After spending time with the Texans, he was traded to the New York Jets, followed by the Broncos.

In 2016, he signed with the Toronto Argonauts and was a huge asset to the team as the Argonauts won the Grey Cup. He scored a 100-yard touchdown in the Grey Cup and was named Grey Cup MVP. After Toronto, he briefly returned to the NFL with Baltimore Ravens before returning to the CFL with the BC Lions and Hamilton Tiger-Cats.

In his CFL career, he played 36 games with 144 catches for 2.080-yards and 13 touchdowns.

Marcus Tucker is 29-years-old from Flint, Michigan, and played college football at Northern Michigan. He went undrafted in the 2016 NFL Draft and was signed by the Pittsburgh Steelers. He spent three seasons on the Steelers practice squad.

After the Steelers released him, Tucker signed with the Tiger-Cats. Tucker played 16 games with Tiger-Cats and had 41 catches for 498-yards and two touchdowns.

Toronto Argonauts

The Toronto Argonauts brought back a familiar face with the signing of linebacker Justin Tuggle. The 31-year-old from Alpharetta, Georgia, went undrafted in the 2013 NFL Draft out of Kansas State. He was signed by the Houston Texans and played 42 games with 67 tackles, two passes defended, and one interception.

After the Texans, he went to the Cleveland Browns but was released. In 2017, he signed with the Toronto Argonauts. He played two seasons with the Argo’s in 35 games with 94 tackles, six sacks, one interception, two forced fumbles, and one touchdown.

In 2019, Tuggle signed with the Tiger-Cats and played 18 games with 80 tackles, one sack, and one interception on their way to the Grey Cup.

Jalen Collins joins the Argo’s after spending time in the XFL between the Wildcats and Vipers. The 28-year-old from Kansas City, Missouri, was a second-round pick in the 2015 NFL Draft by the Atlanta Falcons.

He played in 24 games in two seasons, with the Falcons notching 48 tackles, ten passes defended, and two interceptions.

In 2020, he was on the Wildcats practice squad before signing with the Tampa Bay Vipers. He played in two games with one tackle.

The Toronto Argonauts will play two games in Week 10. The first is on Wednesday against the Ottawa Redblacks and Thanksgiving Day against the Hamilton Tiger-Cats on Monday.
