On Tuesday, the Toronto Argonauts released former NFL first-round pick, Kendall Wright, from the practice squad.
The 31-year-old from Mount Pleasant, Texas, played college football at Baylor. During his collegiate career, he played 50 games, catching 302 passes for 4,004 yards, 30 touchdowns, 425-yards rushing, and two rushing touchdowns. In his senior year, he was named to the Big XII First Team All-American.
His college stats led the Tennessee Titans to draft him in the first round of the 2012 NFL Draft. Wright spent five seasons with the Titans. He played 66 games with 280 catches for 3,244 yards, 18 touchdowns, and 90-yards rushing.
After the Titans, he signed with the Chicago Bears in 2017. He played 16 games with 59 catches for 614-yards and one touchdown. Later in 2018, he signed with the Minnesota Vikings and Arizona Cardinals but was released from both teams.
In February, he signed with the Toronto Argonauts. However, he was placed on the suspended list in July after not showing up to Training Camp. Wright was dealing with a personal issue at home and later returned to the team in mid-September and spent time on the practice squad.
The Toronto Argonauts play two games this week. The first is tomorrow night against the Ottawa Redblacks at 7:30 pm on ESPN+ and on Monday, Thanksgiving Day, against the Hamilton Tiger-Cats at 4 pm on ESPN+.
