Last Friday, ESPN announced that it will air the Kontinental Hockey League (KHL) for the 2021-22 season that will air on ESPN+. This deal adds to ESPN’s growing hockey coverage. Earlier this year, ESPN inked a deal to bring back the NHL.
ESPN+ will air 130 KHL games, two per week and all the games will be presented in English. This includes all of the KHL playoffs and the Gagarin Cup.
The KHL was formed in 2008 and has teams in Russia, Belarus, China, Finland, Latvia, and Kazakhstan. The league features several former NHL players, including Flyers players Mikhail Vorobyev in Salavat Yulaev Ufa and Jori Lehtera for the Spartak Moscow.
