B.C. Lions sign six players, including DeVier Posey

On Friday, the B.C. Lions made several additions highlighted by the signings of wide receiver DeVier Posey and Defense End Alex Bazzie.

DeVier Posey was recently released by Tiger-Cats last week. The 31-year-old from Redwood City, California, went to college at Ohio State and was drafted by the Houston Texans in the third round of the 2012 NFL Draft.

Posey played 26 games with the Texans and had 22 catches for 272 yards. After spending time with the Texans, he was traded to the New York Jets, followed by the Broncos.

In 2016, he signed with the Toronto Argonauts and was a tremendous asset to the team as the Argonauts won the Grey Cup. He scored a 100-yard touchdown in the Grey Cup and was named Grey Cup MVP. After Toronto, he briefly returned to the NFL with the Baltimore Ravens before returning to the CFL with the BC Lions and Hamilton Tiger-Cats.

In his CFL career, he played 36 games with 144 catches for 2.080 yards and 13 touchdowns.

Alex Bazzie is returning to the Lions for the third time. The 31-year-old from Liberia played college at Marshall. He went undrafted in the 2014 NFL Draft and signed with the Cleveland Browns. After he was released from the Browns, he signed with the Lions.

In four years with the Lions, Bazzie played in 56 games with 95 tackles, 32 sacks, and two interceptions. Then, he left the Lions to pursue an NFL contract. Before returning to the Lions, he had brief stints with the Indianapolis Colts, Carolina Panthers, and Arizona Cardinals.

In 2018, he joined the Edmonton Eskimos for two seasons. He played in 25 games with 48 tackles, ten sacks, and one forced fumble. After the Eskimos, he signed with the Argonauts in 2020. When the season was canceled, he became a free agent.

Mario Villamizar is a 26-year-old fullback from St. Catherine’s, ON, who played college football at Wilford Laurier University. He was the Lions sixth-round pick in the 2019 CFL Draft. He played 18 games with the Lions and had two catches for 13 yards.

Shaun Wilson is a 25-year-old running back from Duke University. He played in 49 games for the Blue Devils and had 475 carries for 2,463 yards, 18 touchdowns, 81 catches for 725 yards, and six touchdowns. He went undrafted in the 2018 NFL Draft.

He signed with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and played in five games with six carries for 29 yards. He was released in 2019. He had a brief stint with the Washington Redskins before signing with the Tennessee Titans. The Titans cut him during training camp.

Quadree Henderson is a 25-year-old wide receiver from Wilmington, Delaware. He went to college in Pittsburgh. Henderson played 34 games for the Panthers with 45 catches for 473 yards and one touchdown. He earned the ACC First-Team All-American honors in 2016. He went undrafted in the 2018 NFL Draft.

Henderson was signed by the Pittsburgh Steelers but was cut during training camp. He joined the New York Giants and played in five games with five catches for 112 yards.

After the Giants, he had brief stints with the New York Jets, Jacksonville Jaguars, Carolina Panthers, and Pittsburgh Steelers in 2020. He had a tryout with the Winnipeg Blue Bombers and was released in July.

Josh Woods played linebacker at UCLA from 2015-19. In 2018, he missed the season with a knee injury. He played in 31 games with 111 tackles, 11.5 sacks, two fumble recoveries, two forced fumbles, and one interception.
