On Sunday, the Saskatchewan Roughriders signed kicker Kaare Vedvik and linebacker Alvin Jones Jr. to the team. However, per CFL COVID protocols, both players were moved to the suspended list to complete quarantine.
Kaare Vedvik is 27-year-old from Stavanger, Norway. He played college football at Marshall University. In 2017 against Old Dominion, he made a 92-yard punt that ranked as the seventh-longest punt in FBS history, one-yard shy of Ray Guy’s record of 93-yards. That year, he was named to C-USA All-American. However, he went undrafted in the 2018 NFL Draft.
Later, he signed with the Baltimore Ravens. He would also have tryouts with the Vikings, Bills, Jets, Bengals, Panthers, Jaguars, and the Washington Football Team. In 2021, he was selected by the Roughriders in the second round of the CFL Global Draft.
Alvin Jones Jr. is 26-years-old from Savannah, Georgia. He is the fraternal twin of current Green Bay Packers running back Aaron Jones and is older than him by thirty minutes.
Jones played college football at UTEP. In four years, he played 47 games, with 343 tackles, 15 sacks, seven passes defended, three forced fumbles, one fumble recovery, and one interception. He went undrafted in the 2018 NFL Draft and signed with the Baltimore Ravens.
During the 2019 NFL preseason with the Ravens, Jones Jr. had eight tackles. He was placed on injured reserve and waived with an injury settlement by the Ravens on September 10th.
The Roughriders are on a bye week. Their next game is at McMahan Stadium Saturday, October 23rd, at 9:45 pm on ESPN+.
