On Tuesday, the Calgary Stampeders bolster their defense by bringing back CB Tre Robinson. The 28-year-old from Indianapolis, Indiana, who played two seasons with the Stampeders from 2018-19.

Robinson played college football at Indiana and Illinois State as a quarterback. At Indiana, he played 23 games with 197 completions for 2,433 yards, 20 touchdowns, 11 interceptions, 206 carries for 982-yards, and two touchdowns.

After Indiana, he transferred to Illinois State, playing in 28 games with 327 completions for 48 touchdowns, 19 interceptions, 294 carries for 1,806 yards, and 22 touchdowns.

Tre Robinson went undrafted in the 2016 NFL Draft and signed with the Minnesota Vikings, and switched to cornerback. He spent two years on the Vikings practice squad before making his way to the CFL with the Stampeders.

In 2018, he played sixteen games with 54 tackles, two forced fumbles, and three interceptions as the Stampeders won the 106th Grey Cup over the Ottawa Redblacks 27-16.

During the 2019 season, Robinson played sixteen games with 41 tackles and seven interceptions; two were returned for touchdowns.

Robinson left the CFL for the NFL and signed with the Chicago Bears. He broke his foot during training camp in 2020. The Bears released him on September 6th, 2021. His return couldn’t come at a better time.

The Stampeders are on a three-game winning streak and will play the Saskatchewan Roughriders at McMahan Stadium on Saturday, October 23rd, at 9:45 pm on ESPN+. If the Stampeders win, it will be a four-game winning streak, and they will move into second place in the West Division.
