On Tuesday, the Ottawa Redblacks signed quarterback Tom Flacco, the younger brother of Philadelphia Eagles quarterback Joe Flacco.
The 26-year-old from Audubon, New Jersey, played college football at Western Michigan as a backup before transferring to Rutgers. After he couldn’t play for Rutgers due to the transfer rule, he went to Towson University. He also played baseball, and in 2014, Flacco was drafted by the Philadelphia Phillies.
When he played for the Broncos, Flacco played 13 games with ten completions for 188-yards, one touchdown, 38 carries for 340-yards, and two touchdowns.
When he was with the Towson Tigers, he played in 24 games, completing 484 passes for 6,082 yards, 50 touchdowns, 17 interceptions, 278 carries for 1,066 yards, and six touchdowns. Flacco finished fifth in the Walter Payton Award and was named HERO Sports Third Team honors. He was also the CAA Offensive Player of the Year, ECAC Offensive Player of the Year, and All-CAA First Team.
After college, Flacco went undrafted in the 2020 NFL Draft and had a tryout with the Arizona Cardinals but did not sign. He joined the Saskatchewan Roughriders in January but was released in July.
Flacco was placed on the suspended list as he quarantines under the CFL COVID protocol.
The Ottawa Redblacks visit Tim Horton’s field on Saturday, October 23rd, against the Hamilton Tiger-Cats at 4 pm on ESPN+.
