On Monday, the BC Lions brought back running back Jamel Lyles. The 25-year-old will be placed on the suspended list as he completes COVID-19 quarantine.

Jamel Lyles played college football at the University of Manitoba. In 2015, he led the nation in rushing with 1,564 yards, winning the Canada West Rookie of the Year. Lyles left Manitoba and went to the CJFL (Canadian Junior Football League) in 2016 to play for the Westshore Rebels.

He played ten games with 187 carries for 1,604 yards and fifteen touchdowns in the regular season and played in three postseason games with 64 carries for 500-yards and two touchdowns as the Rebels fell short of the championship 37-25 to the Saskatoon Hilltops.

Lyles returned to Manitoba in 2017 and played eight games with 110 carries for 691 yards, four touchdowns, and 19 catches for 195 yards. In his final year in 2018, he played eight games with 112 carries for 619 yards, one touchdown, and six catches for 127-yards.

After college, he was drafted in the eighth round of the 2019 CFL Draft by the BC Lions. He played in seven games with eleven carries for 86-yards. He was with the Lions in 2021, playing in two games before being released in August.

The BC Lions head to BMO Field on Saturday, October 30th, against the Toronto Argonauts at 4 pm on ESPN+.
