The Calgary Stampeders announced on Friday the release of wide receiver Josh Huff.
The 30-year-old from Houston, Texas, was in his second season with the Stampeders. He played 19 games with 74 catches for 998-yards and one touchdown.
Josh Huff played 49 games in four seasons at the University of Oregon. He caught 144 passes for 2,366 yards, 24 touchdowns, 18 carries for 242 yards, and two touchdowns. He was an honorable mention selection by the PAC-12 in his junior and senior years.
After college, he was drafted by the Philadelphia Eagles in the third round of the 2014 NFL Draft. He played 27 games for the Eagles with 35 catches for 410 yards, three touchdowns, one carry for seven yards. On special teams, Huff had a 107-yard kickoff return for a touchdown against the Tennessee Titans.
After being arrested with marijuana and a firearm in his vehicle, the Eagles released him, and he signed with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. He played ten games with 16 catches for 113-yards, one touchdown, and four carries for 15-yards.
He was released by the Buccaneers in 2017 and signed with the New Orleans Saints. Huff violated the league’s policies on substances for abuse and personal conduct in 2016 and was suspended for two games. The Saints released him in August 2018.
In 2019, Huff played four games with the Arizona Hotshots of the AAF. He had eleven catches for 163 yards. After the league ceased operations, he signed with the Stampeders in April.
