Forward Samu Tuomaala heads to Kärpät

On Tuesday, the Philadelphia Flyers announced forward Samu Tuomaala had been loaned to Oulun Kärpät of the Finnish Elite League (Liiga). Oulun Kärpät are 9-7-4-4 this year, tied for first place in the league.

The 18-year-old from Oulu, Finland, played two games this year for the Phantoms. The Flyers drafted him in the second round of the 2021 NHL Draft.

Last year with Oulun Kärpät U20, he played 30 games with 15 goals and 16 assists. In the playoffs, he scored one goal and three assists. He also played five games for the main Oulun Kärpät team.

A day after sending Nick Seeler to the Phantoms, the Flyers recalled him. The 28-year-old is from Eden Prairie, Minnesota. He has played in nine games this year with the Flyers. He did not play last year.

During the 2019-20 season, he played with the Iowa Wild; he last played in six games with two assists. He later went to the Chicago Blackhawks and played in six games with one assist.

In the NHL, Seeler played in 105 games with two goals and ten assists. Seeler played in 112 games with the Iowa Wild in three seasons with two goals and seventeen assists.

The Phantoms visit the Giant Center against the Hershey Bears tonight at 7 pm.
