Winnipeg Blue Bombers to start QB Sean McGuire

On Wednesday, the Winnipeg Blue Bombers announced that backup quarterback Sean McGuire would start against the Montreal Alouettes this weekend. Head Coach Mike O’Shea confirmed.

McGuire will get his first start with the Blue Bombers (11-1), already securing the number one seed in the West Division. Starter Zach Collaros will be dressed for the game but won’t be on the field. Zach Collaros leads the lead in passing with 236 completions for 3,112 yards, 20 touchdowns, and six interceptions.

The 25-year-old from Milwaukee, Wisconsin, is in his second season with the Blue Bombers. He played 44 games win four seasons at Western Illinois, completing 771 passes for 9,819 yards, 72 touchdowns, 38 interceptions, 232 carries for 326-yards, and nine touchdowns.

McGuire went undrafted in the 2019 NFL Draft and signed with Blue Bombers on May 15th, 2019. In two seasons with the Blue Bombers, he played 30 games with four pass completions for 72-yards, 31 carries for 56-yards and eight touchdowns.

The Blue Bombers host the Montreal Alouettes at IG Field on Saturday, November 13th, at 1 pm on ESPN+.
