In a battle for first place, the Toronto Argonauts came out on top in dominant fashion 31-12 to clinch first place in the East Division.
Toronto Argonauts quarterback McLeod Bethel-Thompson went 26/34 for 250 yards, one touchdown, and one interception. His only touchdown happened in the fourth quarter from the pocket, when he connected to Kurleigh Gittens Jr. for 12-yards that extended the Argo’s lead 24-3 with 10:10 left. Kurleigh Gittens Jr. led the receivers with seven catches for 72-yards and one touchdown.
Argo’s running back D.J. Foster led in rushing with 18 carries for 47-yards. Backup quarterback Antonio Pipkin had three carries for 24-yards, and one touchdown. His touchdown happened in the second quarter on a one-yard run for a 10-0 lead.
It was the first touchdown of the game. Pipkin had a huge 24-yard run in the fourth quarter that set up Thompson’s touchdown a play later. Kicker Boris Bede was a perfect 3/3 with his longest field goal for 39-yards. The defense recorded two sacks and two interceptions, including a 78-yard interception returned for a touchdown by Chris Edwards.
For the Tiger-Cats, quarterback Jeremiah Masoli he had a rough game, going 22/40 for 326 yards, with two interceptions, and led in rushing with four carries for 37-yards.
The only touchdown for the Tiger-Cats happened in the fourth quarter on a one-yard run by backup Dane Evans, followed by a two-point conversion trailing 24-12 with 1:49 left.
Tiger-Cats running back Sean Thomas-Erlington had eight carries for 37-yards, and wide receiver Tim White led the receivers with five catches for 110-yards. Kicker Tyler Bertolet was one-for-three on field goals, with his longest being 27-yards. The defense recorded one sack and one interception.
Next week, the Argonauts will wrap up the season on Tuesday, November 16th, against the Edmonton Elks at 7:30 pm on ESPN+. Meanwhile, the Hamilton Tiger-Cats host the Saskatchewan Roughriders on Saturday, November 20th, at 4 pm on ESPN+.
