Hamilton Tiger-Cats

On Monday, the Hamilton Tiger-Cats signed kicker Gabriel Ferraro. To make room for Ferraro, the team released kicker Taylor Bertolet. Ferraro has been placed on the suspended list while he completes quarantine.

The 26-year-old from Mississauga, Ontario, attended the Tiger-Cats training camp earlier this year and spent time on the Winnipeg Blue Bombers practice squad.

Ferraro played college football at the University of Guelph. He played five seasons (2014-18) with the Gryphons. In 2017, he made 33 field goals which set the U Sports record, and finished his career with 91 of 117 field goals (77.8%).

The Calgary Stampeders drafted Ferraro in the seventh round of the 2018 CFL Draft. He was released by the team and returned to the Gryphons for his fifth season.

In 2019, he signed with the Saskatchewan Roughriders and played in five games, making seven field goals with his longest field goal for 48 yards. The Roughriders released him in September 2019.

Taylor Bertolet is a 29-year-old from Reading, Pennsylvania. He played college football at Texas A&M for four seasons (2012-15). He played in 52 games with the Aggies and made 37 of 56 field goals (66.07%), with his longest field goal for 55 yards.

After college, he went undrafted in the 2016 NFL Draft and signed with the Los Angeles Rams. He had tryouts with the Rams, Broncos, Jets, Panthers, and Vikings in the NFL. In 2019, he played for the Salt Lake Stallions of the AAF. He made nine of fourteen field goals.

This year, he signed with the Tiger-Cats and played ten games, completing 23 of 34 field goals (67.6%) with his longest field goal for 55-yards.

The Hamilton Tiger-Cats wrap up the 2021 season this Saturday, November 20th, against the Saskatchewan Roughriders from Tim Hortons Field at 4 pm on ESPN+.
