Last Thursday, the Saskatchewan Roughriders signed defensive end Nicholas Dheilly. He was moved to the suspended list to complete his COVID-19 quarantine.
This year, the 24-year-old from Regina, Saskatchewan, played four games for the Winnipeg Blue Bombers with one special team tackle. The Blue Bombers drafted him in the fifth round of the 2020 CFL Draft.
Nicholas Dheilly began his collegiate career at the University of Regina. He played 15 games in two seasons (2016-17) with the Rams and had 56 tackles, 10.5 sacks, three force fumbles, one fumble recovery, three passes defended, and one interception. As a freshman, he was named the 2016 Canada West Rookie of the Year.
In 2018, he left the Rams for the BCJFL’s Okanogan Sun. He played six games, including the playoffs, with 8.5 tackles, three special teams tackles, eight sacks, and one pass defended.
In 2019, he went to the University of Saskatchewan. He played ten games for the Huskies with 24 tackles, six sacks, one interception, and three pass breakups.
The Saskatchewan Roughriders wrap up the 2021 season on Saturday, November 20th, against the Hamilton Tiger-Cats at 4 pm on ESPN+.
