Ottawa Redblacks re-sign LB Avery Williams

On Wednesday, the Ottawa Redblacks continued to lock up their players for the 2022 season with the re-signing of linebacker Avery Williams to a one-year extension.

Williams joins wide receiver/returner DeVonte Dedmon, punter Richie Leone, kicker Lewis Ward, defensive lineman Nigel Romick, running back Brendan Gillanders, and safety Justin Howell.

The 27-year-old from Baltimore, Maryland, has played twelve games this year with 83 tackles, one sack, one interception, and one forced fumble. Williams played college football at Temple and went undrafted in the 2017 NFL Draft. He signed with the Houston Texans in May 2017 but was released in September 2017. He signed with the Redblacks in January of 2018.

In three seasons with the Redblacks, Williams has played in 40 games with 195 tackles, seven special team tackles, three sacks, one interception, one touchdown, and four forced fumbles.

The Ottawa Redblacks close out the 2021 season on the road against the Montreal Alouettes on Friday, November 19th, at 7:30 pm on ESPN+.
