The Hamilton Tiger-Cats wrapped up the season Saturday afternoon with a 24-3 win over the Saskatchewan Roughriders. Both teams have already clinched home playoff dates for next week and sat most of their starters. However, some starters played in the first half.
Tiger-Cats quarterback Jeremiah Masoli went 17/21 for 223 yards, one touchdown, and one carry for three yards. Masoli’s touchdown pass happened in the second quarter when he connected to Don Jackson for eight yards extending their lead to 10-0 with 7:09 left.
Masoli was replaced by Dane Evans, who went 10/16 for 126 yards, one touchdown, two interceptions, and four carries for 33 yards. His touchdown pass happened in the third quarter, when he found Brandon Banks for six yards that blew the game wide open 21-0 with 10:48 left.
Running back, Don Jackson led the rushers with 12 carries for 34-yards, four catches for 38-yards, and one touchdown. Wide receiver Steven Dunbar led the receivers with five catches for 89 yards, and kicker Michael Domagala was three-for-four in field goals with his longest for 38 yards.
The defense recorded four sacks and two interceptions. In addition, Tiger-Cats linebacker Simoni Lawrence became the all-time leader in tackles with 607.
Saskatchewan Roughriders quarterback Isaac Harker went 16/23 for 150 yards and two interceptions. His backup, Mason Fine, went 5/9 for 64 yards.
Running back, Jamal Morrow had nine carries for 41 yards, wide receiver Justin McInnis led the receivers with two catches for 54 yards, and kicker Brett Lauther scored the only points for the Roughriders with a 16-yard field goal. The defense recorded four sacks and two interceptions by Elie Bouka.
Next week, both semifinal games are on Sunday, November 28th. First, the Tiger-Cats host the Montreal Alouettes in the Eastern Semi-Final at 1 pm on ESPN2. Then, the Roughriders host the Calgary Stampeders in the Western Semi-Final at 4:30 pm on ESPNEWS.
